This site contains information about the internship opportunities within Illinois State University's Internal Auditing Department. Please look through our site to learn more about student internships.

Internship Mission

The Internal Auditing Internship Program will provide a valuable tool and workplace for University students to learn about the profession of Internal Auditing.

Internship Objectives

Illinois State University Internal Auditing Internship is focused on:

  • Providing excellent experience in dealing with real life auditing situations

  • Improving the intern's self-confidence in their judgements and decisions

  • Developing the intern's abilities in various communication techniques to a variety of audiences

Internship Goals

By the end of the program, interns should demonstrate improved abilities which would include the ability to:

  • Describe the audit process in general terms

  • Perform audit steps in a professional manner

  • Use previously learned classroom knowledge to solve real life business situations

  • Prepare descriptive audit step narratives and audit findings

  • Be confident and proud of a finished audit product

Internship Levels

The internship program is divided into two semester-long segments. Job descriptions for the Audit Intern I (first semester) and the Audit Intern II (second semester) are available for viewing.
